LOCAL OUTREACH

Maplewood supports and/or is actively involved in the following ministries:

Samaritan’s Purse

After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.

Operation Christmas Child

Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Throughout the year, Maplewood collects and prepares gifts for our big packing night in the fall.  Last fall we packed a total of 801 boxes to ship to children around the world.

Compassion International

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty, and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Today, Compassion helps more than 1.2 million children in 26 countries.

The Gideons

The mission of The Gideons International is to win the lost for Christ, and their unique method is the distribution of Bibles and New Testaments in selected streams of life. Gideons have placed or distributed more than 1.7 billion complete Bibles and New Testaments in more than 190 countries around the world . . . so far. Learn more about the Gideons and how you can participate in their ministry at www.gideons.org.

Birthright

This ministry offers love, friendship, and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. We help women make a realistic plan for the future. For more information about their local Birthright organization, contact Marjie Wester or the church office.

Meals on Wheels

MOW prepares and delivers meals to seniors whose mobility is limited. Maplewood Church has a group of volunteers who deliver these meals two or three weeks each year. Contact the church office if you'd be willing to serve as a driver.

Quilt Ministry

The Quilt Ministry usually meets the second Saturday of each month at Maplewood Church in the Kids' Ministry Building. The group has donated quilts and other items to Birthright, Ronald McDonald House in Columbia, the Veterans' Home in Warrensburg, and Show Me Christian Youth Home. Jeanne Gare is the contact person for this ministry.
